Diaspora affairs envoy says during 2020 they are planning to visit almost all the countries except South Africa and Antarctica
The expenses of the Diaspora affairs envoy on business trips raised questions of the chairman of the Science, education, culture, diaspora, youth and sport affairs standing committee Mkhitar Hayrapetyan at the discussion of 2020 draft budget today.
Hayrapetyan was particularly interested what countries the envoy is planning to visit during 2020 and whether the required sum is not a little bit much.
The envoy’s office submitted 80 applications costing 125 million AMD for the business trips of the envoy and the employees of the office.
“The number of business trips is not much, they are all grounded. There are some programs but it is difficult to say what unexpected visits may occur. It appears, for instance, that the Armenian community of one of the countries celebrates 100th anniversary and a state representation is required. It is easier to say what country we will not visit. We will not visit Antarctica, possibly Central African countries. The other countries are on the list,” he said, adding that luckily or unfortunately the Armenian Diaspora is spread everywhere and it is difficult to say which these 80 countries will be.
“We are trying to have enough budget not to ask money from the state from half of the year,” the envoy said, adding that there are cases when the inviting side cares the expenses.
