Another problematic aspect of the armed forces’ certification system is the requirement for all branches of the military to undergo examinations based on identical principles, wrote Tigran Abrahamyan, Secretary of the “I Have Honor” faction in the National Assembly.

“In special forces, artillery, air defense, aviation, and military medicine, regardless of professional specifics, personnel are tested according to the same standards.

Why should “special forces” soldiers, doctors, or pilots be required to meet identical shooting and physical fitness benchmarks?

In addition to the compensation defined within the certification system, special forces personnel also receive an additional bonus specific to their service type (an increase could even be considered), underscoring the importance and unique role of these units.

However, it is unclear why a military doctor, a pilot, a technical intelligence specialist, and other servicemen must undergo examinations based on the same principles and requirements.

Each branch should have standards aligned with its professional profile and combat mission. This would allow for an accurate assessment of a serviceman’s real capabilities within their respective troop type.

The fact that only one of the four examinations – the professional one – is differentiated by troop category is, to put it mildly, insufficient.

This issue becomes even more significant in the context of challenges related to the reduction and replenishment of compulsory military service terms,” the deputy wrote.
