Mihran Hakobyan: Western diplomacy lost its only strategic leverage in the Caucasus

Western diplomacy, which has collectively sunk to the level of Ursula von der Leyen’s intellect, certainly does not realize that with the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, it lost the only – let me repeat, the only – strategic tool through which it participated in Caucasian affairs, wrote Mihran Hakobyan, candidate of historical sciences.

“No matter how much Western diplomacy, which has fallen to the level of Ursula von der Leyen’s intellect, supports Aliyev’s ‘Yerevan six’ and repeats through his mouth ten times a day that the Artsakh issue is closed, anyone with even a penny’s worth of sense understands that the ‘six’ is not eternal, and the Karabakh issue is far from resolved – in fact, everything is only beginning.

Moreover, the West will be involved in this process about as much as, say, Latin America. As they say, everything returns to its natural course… Just as in 1920, when Russia and Turkey threw the West out of the Caucasus like a champagne cork, the same thing is happening now.

The Western strategists, who have likewise descended to the level of Ursula von der Leyen’s intellect, never understood that Armenian Karabakh and the OSCE Minsk Group were the only serious factors that ensured their political influence and possibility of presence in the Caucasus…,” Hakobyan concluded.
