The agenda to remove the Catholicos is false and does not concern society – religious expert

The discussion around removing the Catholicos is fabricated and has nothing to do with the concerns of society, religious expert Vardan Khachatryan said in an interview with Aysor.am.

“The push to remove the Catholicos is an attempt at external pressure. The tense relationship between the Church and the government has already triggered international reactions, something we do not need. Who decided that the political sphere should be completely separated from the clergy? Haven’t we had members of the clergy serve as deputies before?” the religious expert stated.

According to Khachatryan, the upcoming meeting of bishops will be a decisive moment.
