Karekin II voices concern over anti-church policies adopted by the authorities
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, expressed deep concern over the authorities’ anti-church policies during a visit to the Cathedral of the Holy Translators in Marseille.
“Our homeland and the Armenian Church are facing significant challenges. The hearts of our people continue to bleed. Issues such as protecting the rights of Armenians in Artsakh, securing the release of those held captive in Azerbaijan, and halting the ongoing cultural genocide remain unresolved.”
The Catholicos stressed that the Church plays a central role in strengthening the nation during such trials.
“The Church is not merely a stone structure, but a community of believers. The Church is you, dear faithful, through your devout lives and God-pleasing deeds,” he noted.
His Holiness expressed hope that through the unity of the people and their faith, these challenges will be overcome and the harmful encroachments on the Church will be neutralized.
