“We call on the international community to deliver an immediate assessment of this dangerous situation:” international lawyer Robert Amsterdam releases a new report

International lawyer Robert Amsterdam has published a new report detailing on the government’s campaign against national philanthropist and businessman Samvel Karapetyan, as well as the Armenian Apostolic Church:

“Our team has prepared a comprehensive and substantial report documenting the troubling developments unfolding in Armenia. Our goal is clear: to expose the authorities’ blatant departures from the rule of law and political neutrality, which are severely undermining the country’s democratic foundations.”

The report shows in detail that the legal case against Samvel Karapetyan is unfounded and represents a clear example of political motives overriding legal standards and fundamental human rights, in an effort to silence dissenting voices.

According to Amsterdam, this constitutes a direct attack on anyone who dares to stand with the Church.

The report is addressed to the UN Human Rights Council, the Council of Europe, EU institutions, and all international organizations committed to upholding justice:

“We call on the international community to deliver an immediate and decisive assessment of this dangerous situation and to demand the prompt restoration of justice in Armenia.”
