Nikol’s regime is transient, while universal human values are permanent: Mihran Hakobyan

Mihran Hakobyan, a public figure who has recently been subjected to violence due to his activities and criticism of the authorities, wrote on his social media page:

“Pseudo-democracy becomes authoritarianism when a regime reshapes the law to silence the opposition, dissenters, and anyone who raises their voice in protest.

Authoritarianism then evolves into an authoritarian dictatorship when even those tailored laws no longer suffice – when the wave of public dissent grows so strong that the regime resorts to extrajudicial violence and methods of intimidation.

Take my case, for example. Beyond my professional and socio-political activities, I have no personal enemies, no disputes, no unresolved conflicts. I owe nothing to anyone, and no one owes anything to me. Yet in 2021, a car was blown up in front of my home, and the case remains unsolved. In 2025, masked individuals attacked me in broad daylight, struck me, and fled.

If we assume that Nikol’s regime, which has turned into a dictatorship, did not orchestrate this, then who did – aliens, or perhaps a ‘one-legged black devil’? When an authoritarian regime refuses to uncover the truth, it effectively points to itself. Even basic logic suggests that no other explanation exists.

I hope the embassies and international organizations that uphold human rights and democracy as core values will act. Because Nikol’s regime is transient, while universal human values are permanent. Be sure that there will be a conversation about these values with you in the future.
