“There is no case, only political persecution”: Lawyer on the detention of Samvel Karapetyan

Samvel Karapetyan has been held in detention in Armenia since June 18, 2025, on the basis of “decisions” made by investigators, prosecutors, and courts, his lawyer Aram Vardevanyan wrote.

“There is no case – there is detention. There is no case – there is political persecution. On June 18, 2021, Azerbaijan’s competent authorities placed Samvel Karapetyan on a wanted list.
