Sargsyan: We wait for the Church’s guidance, no independent actions (video)

Journalists today asked Serzh Sargsyan, the third President of the Republic of Armenia, whether opposition forces should actively oppose the government’s anti-state actions or remain silent.

“In any case, I don’t believe all opposition forces simply follow or enjoy it. Yes, there is a problem in conducting a united struggle, and unfortunately, it is not yet possible. Do you want me to criticize the opposition like others do?” Sargsyan added.

On the question of why members of the RPA youth wing, for example, do not attend church or chant the name of His Holiness like many young people do, Sargsyan said: “I have stated clearly that we are ready to act at the urging of His Holiness. We are waiting for that guidance and will not take any independent actions concerning the church. If our young people’s actions have gone unnoticed, perhaps it is our fault for not publicizing them.”
