Samvel Karapetyan opposed it, but we proposed house arrest and bail, lawyer says

Samvel Karapetyan did not support the defense team’s initiative to request the application of alternative preventive measures – house arrest or bail – his lawyer Aram Vardevanyan stated during a press conference.

According to Vardevanyan, even the issue of bail should not have been considered in this case.

“We, as defense lawyers, were simply obligated to file the relevant motions. Imagine: the only risk cited by the court is the alleged risk of obstruction. Yet such a risk cannot remain unmitigated when house arrest and bail are applied together. The court then attempted to justify this supposed risk by claiming it could involve influencing individuals who are not even in Armenia,” he said.
