There is a political agreement on providing support to Armenia from the European Peace Facility: MFA Spokesperson

In response to a query from Aysor.am, Ani Badalyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, addressed the issue of support under the European Peace Facility (EPF) within the framework of the Armenia-EU partnership.

- In recent days, contacts with the EU have intensified across various formats, including bilateral meetings with EU member states, among them Hungary’s Foreign Minister. However, among the programs implemented within the Armenia-EU partnership, the issue of support under the European Peace Facility appears to have slowed down. Has there been any progress on this matter?

Yes. The discussions held in this direction, including in the formats you mentioned, were aimed at achieving concrete results. We highly appreciate the consensus reached among all 27 EU member states, as well as at the EU level overall. By the way, Minister Mirzoyan referred to this, without going into detail, following yesterday’s meeting of EU foreign ministers.

During Minister Mirzoyan’s meeting within the framework of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, all EU member states reaffirmed their support for Armenia through the European Peace Facility and other instruments. Therefore, we can state that a political agreement has been reached. Following the completion of the necessary internal procedures, we expect the approval of the second package of support to Armenia under the European Peace Facility.
