Armenia officially appeals to Russia for the extradition of Gevorg Kostanyan

Armenia has officially appealed to the Russian Federation to extradite former Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Kostanyan, to Armenian law enforcement authorities.

In response to a written inquiry from Aysor.am, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia stated that on December 17 it sent an official petition to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation requesting Kostanyan’s extradition for the purpose of criminal prosecution.

It should be noted that this is the second such request submitted by Armenia. The previous petition was rejected by the Russian side.

On November 18, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan announced in the National Assembly that, in addition to Kostanyan, Armenia would also seek the extradition of Vahagn Harutyunyan, the former head of the investigative group in the March 1 case. However, no information has been reported so far regarding Harutyunyan’s extradition request.
