Armenia may withdraw railway sections from Russian concession if restoration faces obstacles

Armenia considers it essential that restoration work be carried out up to and including the Ijevan railway station, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a conversation with reporters.

He also emphasized the importance of restoring the Yeraskh and Akhurik sections, which connect Armenia with Azerbaijan, mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhichevan, and Armenia with Turkey.

Pashinyan expressed hope that Russian partners would complete the restoration work as quickly as possible.

“These sections are under Russian concession. If there are any obstacles or other issues, the Armenian government may withdraw those sections from the concession and carry out the restoration using funds from the Armenian state budget,” he stated.
