Khachik Galstyan’s arrest is linked to the party’s activity and the upcoming elections: Babken Harutyunyan

According to Babken Harutyunyan, a member of the “Homeland” party, the arrest of Khachik Galstyan is political in nature and is directly connected to the party’s recent active work and the upcoming National Assembly elections.

He noted that on the eve of elections expected in about six months, the “Homeland” party has been intensively engaged in party building, opening not only regional but also district-level structures, a development that, in his view, is causing concern among the authorities.

“They are trying to exert pressure through various levers and to create artificial problems. Khachik Galstyan is a member of the party’s executive body and its Secretary General. He plays a key role in the party’s activities, actively participates in political processes, and publicly assesses the actions of the current government,” Harutyunyan stated.

According to him, the authorities have no other tools at their disposal, and when they see that the party is growing stronger and elections are approaching, they do everything possible to restrict and obstruct political activity.
