I filially ask His Holiness to appeal to the believing nation and at this stage at least remove the traitors from office: Artur Vanetsyan
The latest so-called reform of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church that we have witnessed can be assessed as a classic example of an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order – an issue that, in my view, must be addressed by the law-enforcement system, stated Artur Vanetsyan, former Director of the National Security Service and Chairman of the Homeland Party.
“I would, however, like to emphasize one important circumstance. After numerous unsuccessful attempts, N. P. has realized that he lacks the capacity to remove His Holiness ‘at lightning speed’ and dismantle one of the oldest Armenian spiritual and national institutions. As a result, he has resorted to a familiar tactic: concealing yet another failure behind vague and illegitimate commissions and coordinating councils.
Moreover, through their establishment, N. P. has officially initiated a process aimed at splitting the Armenian Apostolic Church. As the de facto head of the government and the person presiding over the so-called coordinating council, he bears direct responsibility for all possible consequences.
Our Holy Apostolic Church has endured far more severe trials and struggles than this and will undoubtedly emerge from the present challenge with honor.
For this reason, I filially ask His Holiness the Patriarch to appeal to the believing nation to stand firmly in support of our Holy Church and, at this stage at least, to dismiss the traitors from office,” Vanetsyan wrote.
