The removal of the Catholicos will be carried out peacefully, in a spirit of Christian tolerance and love: Pashinyan (Video)
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he believes the head of government should address issues of public importance, responding during a briefing with journalists to a question about whether he fears that his actions related to the Church could be subject to criminal assessment.
“I think the Prime Minister should deal with matters of public significance. For example, does the Prime Minister have the right to film a reel?” Pashinyan said.
When a journalist reminded him that the government and the Church are separate institutions, Pashinyan replied: “That is precisely why I am bridging the institution of the Prime Minister with the institution of the citizen, with the institution of a follower of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, with the institutions of the New Testament and prayer.”
Referring to possible next steps, Pashinyan added: “You say that Ktrich Nersisyan has no intention of leaving. We are going to make him change that intention. No one ever intends to leave. Serzh Sargsyan had no intention of leaving either, but he had to leave. The same applies to Ktrich Nersisyan. But I repeat once again: we will do this in a spirit of tolerance and Christian love.”
