There are two seats for Nikol Pashinyan – Prime Minister’s chair or a jail bunk: Mamijanyan
There are currently more than 50 political prisoners in Armenia – an unprecedented figure, Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the I Have Honor faction in the National Assembly, told reporters.
According to him, the arrest of Vazgen Saghatelyan and Narek Samsonyan, authors of the Imnemnimi podcast, also constitutes pressure on the media.
“I do not understand the silence of international organizations – there is a clear need for assessments. The young men expressed far milder views on air than those Alen Simonyan, who occupies the chair of the Speaker of the National Assembly, has dared to voice. This is clearly a process initiated by Alen Simonyan and subsequently pursued by him, and it must be properly assessed,” Mamijanyan stated.
He emphasized that it is evident Nikol Pashinyan will do everything possible to retain power.
“It is important how the opposition responds to this situation. There are two seats for Nikol Pashinyan: either the prime minister’s chair or a jail bunk,” the faction leader added.
