A perception is forming in Tehran that Armenia is becoming a center for the actions of forces hostile to Iran – Iranian Ambassador to Armenia
During an invited press conference, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami stated that “a perception is forming in Tehran that Armenia is becoming a center for the actions of forces hostile to Iran.”
“A group of people have the opportunity, and are given the green light, to come to the Iranian embassy building in Armenia and make disrespectful and offensive statements,” he noted, referring to demonstrations near the Iranian embassy in Yerevan.
“For six days now, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, disrespectful and insulting statements have been made in front of the Iranian embassy, and despite our protests, this process continues. We have repeatedly conveyed our concerns to the relevant Armenian authorities. We have stood by the Armenian government in the most difficult moments, and there are many examples of that. We are in a difficult situation today, and what is happening near the Iranian embassy will remain in the historical memory of the Iranian people. I believe I have expressed myself clearly,” the ambassador emphasized.
He also reiterated that Iran has consistently communicated its concerns to the appropriate Armenian bodies.
According to the Iranian diplomat, if such actions succeed, Armenia will also be a losing party.
The protests near the Iranian embassy in Yerevan involved supporters of the late Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who voiced opposition to the country’s current authorities.
