I deeply regret and am distressed by my statement yesterday – Priest Artashes

The rector of the Church of St. Sahak-Mesrop in the village of Vosketap, Priest Artashes Hakobyan, has issued a statement:

“I deeply regret and am distressed by my statement made yesterday, which resulted from an error caused by external influence, an incorrect assessment of reality, and psychological stress. That statement does not reflect my true thoughts or beliefs. I reaffirm the declaration issued by the clergy of the Masyatsotn Diocese on January 17, 2026.

Dear members of my parish, throughout my ministry I have sought to serve each of you faithfully, in accordance with the order of the Holy Church, and I intend to continue my pastoral service with the same devotion and sense of responsibility.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness and request that you remember me in your prayers.

‘It was fitting to rejoice and be glad, for this brother of yours was dead and has come to life, was lost and has been found’ (Luke 15:32).”
