The Church has always defeated the devil, and it will continued to do so: Bishop Hovnan

The Primate of the Diocese of Gugarats, His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, has condemned the repression against priests of the Diocese of Masyatsotn, witnessed in recent days.

“They are banging their heads against the wall by issuing threats. Those who threaten are criminals,” Bishop Hovnan said in an interview with Aysor.am.

At the invitation of the Catholicos of All Armenians, a Bishops’ Conference is scheduled to take place in Sankt Pölten, Austria, from February 16 to 19. According to circulating reports, the authorities are seeking ways to prevent bishops from leaving Armenia.

Bishop Hovnan stated that he would not be surprised if such measures were taken. “They are criminals – what else can one expect?” he said.

“The Church has always defeated the devil, and it will continue to do so,” he added.
