Narek’s health deteriorating amid hunger strike; transfer to hospital delayed for a week” – Astghik Matevosyan

Astghik Matevosyan, lawyer for political prisoner Narek Samsonyan and editor-in-chief of Antifake, has shared details about his health condition”

“Yesterday evening, I once again visited Narek Samsonyan, who has been on a hunger strike for 13 days and has been unlawfully detained for 69 days. During the visit, he repeatedly experienced dizziness. Later, his condition deteriorated sharply, and the dizziness persisted for an extended period. We called the nurse, who measured his blood pressure and stated that his condition was a consequence of the hunger strike.

We do not know how Narek endured the night in solitary confinement or what condition he will be in today, on the 14th day of his hunger strike. In addition to the hunger strike, Narek has pre-existing health problems and has been advised to undergo urgent surgery. For a week now, we have been awaiting a decision on transferring him to a hospital.”
