Prosecutor’s Office: No criminal proceedings against Catholicos of All Armenians

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia has stated that there are currently no criminal proceedings against the Catholicos of All Armenians.

In response to a written inquiry from Aysor.am regarding whether any criminal cases have been initiated against the Catholicos, the Prosecutor’s Office replied:

“There is currently no information available at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia regarding criminal proceedings concerning the mentioned person.”

Aysor.am also requested information about proceedings in which Manya Ghazaryan, director of Shoghakat TV, was questioned. The Prosecutor’s Office stated that, in the interests of the preliminary investigation, it is not possible to provide such information.

Earlier, Hraparak daily reported that the authorities were preparing a new criminal case against Catholicos Karekin II. According to the publication, the Investigative Committee is examining allegations under an article related to money laundering, within the framework of which Shoghakat TV director Manya Ghazaryan, who is reportedly connected to the case, was questioned.
