Domestic political situation allows formation of large pre-election blocs – Robert Kocharyan (Video)
In terms of domestic politics, we have a unique situation. I do not recall any election in Armenia’s history where, during the pre-election campaign, questions such as ‘Ararat or Aragats?’ were raised. There was never such extensive discussion about protecting national identity or preserving the unity of the Church, said the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during a meeting with journalists.
“People positioned at different poles on fundamental issues are now expressing almost identical views. This indicates the existence of a serious basis for cooperation within the opposition sector. This is another factor that increases optimism about the possibility of forming large pre-election blocs,” he added.
