Gasoline imports from Azerbaijan may have a light impact on inflation – Central Bank Chairman

The effect of gasoline imported from Azerbaijan on prices in Armenia will become visible in January’s inflation figures, Martin Galstyan, Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, told reporters.

Galstyan acknowledged that there would be some impact, but added:

“I don’t think the impacts will be significant.”

He noted that if Armenia has open borders and allows the free movement of goods and services through imports and exports, the overall effect on the economy could be positive.

“But to what extent, it would be difficult for me to say at this point,” the Central Bank Chairman added.
