Alen Simonyan received positive feedback regarding his visit to Russia

National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan said during a briefing with reporters today that he received positive feedback following his visit to Russia.

“I have not communicated with anyone in the Russian Federation regarding responses; I communicated with officials. The feedback I received came from our people – I received many messages from Armenians living in the Diaspora. I thank you, I have read them all, I love you too, and I am proud of you,” he noted.

Asked whether his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was tense and if he received answers during the closed discussion, Simonyan replied:

“We spoke name by name. What I told you here, I also said there. Some people – who can neither write nor speak Armenian or Russian – had certain expectations; they probably assumed I should attack someone or use non-normative language. I presented our concerns, they presented theirs. That was the purpose of our meeting. We also had very important discussions and proposals, ranging from various investments in Armenia to holding Armenian cultural days in Russia.”
