Court accepts Church’s two lawsuits against Aramayis Takhmazyan

The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has filed two separate lawsuits against Aramayis Takhmazyan (formerly Father Tade), the deposed priest of the Surb Astvatsatsin Church in Talin.

According to the Judicial Information System, Judge Zaruhi Mkrtchyan of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of the Aragatsotn Region has accepted both lawsuits for consideration.

In the first lawsuit the Church, citing Article 121 of the Civil Procedure Code of Armenia, seeks to oblige Takhmazyan to return the Surb Astvatsatsin Church, including its keys, to Church ownership, prohibit him from entering the Holy Altar, depository, and courtroom areas of the church, recover legal costs, including the state duty paid.

In the second lawsuit the Church requests that Takhmazyan and Hripsime Khachatryan return the 5th apartment of the 3rd Myasnikyan building in Talin, which belongs to the Church, and be evicted. The Church also seeks recovery of legal expenses from the defendants.

The cases are currently under examination in court.
