Exculpatory testimonies of priests omitted from case file – Archbishop Mkrtich’s lawyer

The court hearing has begun in the case involving the Primate of the Aragatsotn Diocese, His Grace Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, and Father Garegin Arsenyan, spiritual pastor of St. Gevorg Church in Mughni.

Yerem Sargsyan, a member of Bishop Mkrtich’s legal team, stated that the prosecution is deliberately excluding exculpatory evidence from the case materials.

“Is the defense now expected to determine, on behalf of the prosecution, what constitutes evidence?” Sargsyan asked. “Bishop Mkrtich has retained counsel with a defined defense strategy, and it is for them to shape the defense. We consider the testimonies of certain priests to be exculpatory in nature, yet they were not included in the case file,” he emphasized.
