Homeland Party will not participate in the 2026 elections

The Homeland party issued a statement, which says:

“At its February 26 meeting, the Executive Body of the Homeland Party comprehensively discussed the domestic political situation in Armenia, the current internal and external challenges, and developments characteristic of the pre-election period.

The Executive Body recorded:

1) The change of power remains a top priority, grounded in the strategic goals of the state, with justifications presented over the years.
2) Acute internal political tension continues to persist.
3) The political field remains polarized, lacking a unifying state ideology and a clear axis of values.
4) Mechanisms of legal and moral accountability toward state institutions fail to provide effective checks and balances in practice.
5) Political processes are still shaped by non-institutional logic, hindering sustainable state development.
6) The Homeland Party’s ideological foundations, program priorities, and strategic vision for Armenia differ from those of other political forces, making the formation of alliances unrealistic.
7) An increase in opposition forces participating in the elections could fragment voter support and reduce the efficiency of political resource distribution, potentially affecting electoral outcomes negatively under the current conditions.

Based on these considerations, and aiming both to consolidate opposition votes and to avoid forming artificial alliances lacking ideological coherence, the Executive Body has decided:

1. Not to participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
2. To encourage party members and supporters to vote for any of the real opposition forces in the upcoming elections, according to their own preferences.
3. To continue consistently developing the Homeland Party in all areas of party building.

At the same time, we inform you that we will address issues related to this decision after the elections, as necessary, while ensuring that no conditions arise before the elections that could harm the real opposition forces.
