Will the Declaration be removed from the Constitution? Galyan says preliminary text to be published in March

The preliminary text of the draft Constitution will be published in March. Srbuhi Galyan reaffirmed this in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly of Armenia.

“The text will be ready in March; it is almost complete. A decision will then be made to publish it in order to receive opinions and proposals for amendments. In other words, we will be open to every suggestion. The text will be strictly preliminary and subject to discussion, so that the public and the professional community can present their views,” she stated.

Addressing the possible removal of the Declaration from the constitutional text, the minister noted that no final decision has yet been made, although the issue has been under discussion for a long time.

“When it is published, you will see,” she said.

Asked whether this means the ministry has already formed a position, Galyan responded:

“The ministry consistently upholds the position that the security, peace and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia will never be put at risk. Don’t look for intrigue where there is none.”
