Iranian denials regarding the events in Nakhchevan suggest a different scenario
The limited drone strike toward Nakhchevan has sparked discussion about alternative developments. If the operation was indeed conducted by Iran, it was likely aimed at targeting an American-Israeli military facility, wrote Tigran Abrahamyan.
“I have noted on various occasions that Israel has always regarded Azerbaijani territory as a springboard for conducting reconnaissance against Iran and for other operations. However, these days, regardless of which country Iran has struck – be it an American military base or a radar system – it has not issued any denials,” Abrahamyan wrote.
He added, “Iranian denials about what happened in Nakhchevan outline a different scenario. Clearly, there are countries interested in opening a front against Azerbaijan, and these actions may be influenced by that.”
