Salaries of Constitutional Court judges to increase based on years of experience, possibly by up to 400,000 drams on average – minister

Armenia’s Minister of Justice, Srbuhi Galyan, confirmed in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly of Armenia that the salaries of judges of the Constitutional Court of Armenia will be increased, taking into account their years of professional experience.

Speaking at a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the minister noted that there is a need to revise the current salary levels, as they do not correspond to the high positions held by Constitutional Court judges.

“The salaries of Constitutional Court judges will undergo clear changes, including all the reforms implemented so far, particularly the mechanisms for calculating bonuses. These mechanisms are being introduced gradually and will be incorporated into the laws on state officials that establish the relevant coefficients,” she said.

Galyan added that it is difficult to state the exact size of the increase. According to her, judges have different lengths of service.

“Since judges have varying years of experience – some may have served only three years – it is difficult to specify the exact average increase. However, it could be around 200,000-300,000 drams, and possibly up to 400,000 drams,” the minister noted.
