NSS director claims Archbishop Yezras was a KGB Agent

The Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, Andranik Simonyan, claimed that Yezras Nersisyan – Archbishop and Primate of the Russian and New Nakhijevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church – was an agent of the KGB of the Soviet Union.

“The NSS made that fact public,” Simonyan told reporters.

A journalist asked why he used the phrase “Ktritch Nersisyan,” noting that the archbishop is not a political figure. Simonyan replied: “Just as I used it.”

The NSS director did not respond to a follow-up remark suggesting that he was joining the anti-church campaign of Nikol Pashinyan.
