Viva and "Artissimo" expand the scope of cooperation

Early identification of potential problems is important for children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with autism spectrum disorder, and their families. The topic is relevant especially in marzes where there are no specialized centers or the existing resources are not enough to get coordinated and full support. Realizing the importance of the issue, Viva and "Artissimo" have decided to expand the cooperation that started four months ago in Gegharkunik and be useful to the beneficiaries of Vayots Dzor region as well.

The "Voskeporik" development center operating in Yeghegnadzor is the first regional branch created by "Artisimo". The main center is in the city of Martuni, Gegharkunik marz. In Vayots Dzor, 150 children received permanent support in the branch serving 20 villages and one city. With the support of Viva, from now on the center's professional team can fully serve the 200 already registered children and their parents. The therapies needed will be long-term and consistent. Viva's support will allow focusing on the work of the two existing centers, making it possible for Artissimo to implement ambitious new projects.

“Our cooperation is important from several perspectives. Families of this target group in regions are more vulnerable due to the sometimes impossibility of using professional development centers. Due to distance, lack of funds and other circumstances, it often becomes difficult or impossible to travel to the capital to participate in the necessary therapies. We are ready to support, because the presence of such centers in marzes and the dedication of specialists will solve many issues," said Armen Avetisyan, director general of Viva.

Yeghegnadzor "Voskeporik" with its area is adapted to the works carried out in the direction of sensory integration. Although work is also being carried out aimed at the rehabilitation of children with locomotor problems, at this stage the focus is on children with autistic symptoms. Experts note that thanks to five years of consistent efforts, sometimes they managed to achieve an incredible result. the neurologist's initial conclusion was changed. It is not only a result of dedication but also a work methodology. Special attention is paid to work with parents. A model supporting the parent-child-specialist chain is used, parents who have gained knowledge apply the right approach to communication with the child at home.

It has another positive side.our leading specialists are the parents who came to "Voskeporik" with their problems. Today they are already specialists and an important pillar for everyone. It is also a success that we are able to expand and spread our activities across marzes. Of course, there is also an ambitious dream of going to other marzes, which we will strive for," said Katerina Horstka, the founder of "Artissimo" cultural NGO.

A year ago, in the Yeghegnadzor "Voskeporik" center, through fund-raising, they also started conducting in-depth research not specific to outpatient services, in order to show a more systematic approach.
