We are not doing anything behind Russia’s back or in defiance of Russia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a briefing with journalists following the Government session, responding to a question about whether the issue of transferring the railway to concession management would be discussed during the visit of the Kazakh Foreign Minister to Armenia.

“Kazakhstan has not hidden its interest in TRIPP since August. Kazakhstan is not the only country interested – several others are as well. We, including Kazakhstan, must be prepared to allow the transit routes passing through Armenia to be used in their chains of exports, imports, and the transport services they provide,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Pashinyan also noted that, in addition to Kazakhstan, many other countries are interested in the issue of South Caucasus Railways.

The Kazakhstan Railways company and the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported that they are not currently negotiating the acquisition of a Russian concession for the Armenian railways.
