Pashinyan to try to turn the EU summit into his pre-election party – Armen Ashotyan

The European Political summit is coming to Yerevan to support Nikol Pashinyan, said Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, at a briefing with reporters.

The opposition politician described the development as interference.

“The EU representatives have decided to come to Yerevan these very days to express political support to the authorities in Armenia. This is the main message of the European Political Community summit to be organized in Yerevan these days, which, as a phenomenon, is categorically unacceptable. It is obvious that all this contains elements of pre-election interference. What the European Community criticizes in the case of other countries, for example, accusing Russia of interfering in the elections in Moldova, it is doing in Armenia,” he noted.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan will try to turn the summit into his pre-election party.

“Pashinyan will do everything to ensure that the fun doesn’t get spoiled, that European leaders don’t have to face our real Armenia and our complaints,” Ashotyan added.

At the same time, he stated that meetings in this format are usually held in one EU member state and one non-EU country, but he is sure that Armenia was not chosen on this principle.
