Azerbaijan is physically destroying Armenian churches, while Armenian authorities seek to dismantle them administratively – Father Makar

The Azerbaijani authorities have demolished the Church of the Holy Mother of God in Stepanakert. The Armenian authorities, however, cannot tolerate such sacrilege and will certainly raise their voice, as their stated aim is to “build” the Armenian Church, not destroy it, wrote Father Makar Galamdaryan.

Alternatively, according to the priest, they may remain silent.

“Because Azerbaijan is physically destroying Armenian churches, while they seek to dismantle them administratively in Armenia. Thus, the spirit of their actions is the same.

P.S. If you are so strong, include in your pre-election program an agenda for improving any other religious structure operating in the Republic of Armenia, and raise your voice against the sacrilege of destroying Armenian churches. You are afraid that so-called ‘civilized’ and neighboring external forces will reproach you in a ‘painful’ way. And since the Armenian Church is a structure that carries national identity, those same external forces, one could say, even welcome your illegal and unconstitutional steps,” Father Makar noted.
