Let your words be your judge – Father Aristakes’ response to Nikol Pashinyan

The Prime Minister, who is destroying the homeland, bringing sorrow and destruction, and dividing the nation, demonstrated his latest ignorance by stating that “The Church cannot be outside the state, and it cannot be a state within the state,” Father Aristakes Hovhannisyan said.

The Father noted that with this thesis, Pashinyan is deliberately confusing the concepts of the state and the nation, as well as the legal system and the spiritual mission.

“The Church is not a competitor of the state, and even less so a ‘state within the state.’ The Church is the spiritual backbone of the nation; it is among the people, among its children, and its mission is far more comprehensive than that of any temporary government. The Church is a source and sustainer of national unity, collectivity, and solidarity.

For centuries, an integral part of the Church’s mission has been to ‘give birth’ to a state in times of statelessness and to strengthen it in times of weakness. This historical truth is an undeniable fact – let your words be your judge,” Father Aristakes stated.
