Armenia has a demarcated and 12-kilometer section with Azerbaijan, where the border troops of the Republic of Armenia carry out service. This is an important and exceptional situation, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at an event dedicated to the Day of the Border Troops of the National Security Service.

“Those 12 kilometers are perhaps the only section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border where representatives of the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces carry out service without helmets, without body armor, and with machine gun magazines not in machine guns, but in bags,” Pashinyan said.

He added that in the near future the demarcation process along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border will continue and be completed within a reasonable timeframe.

“We also have on the agenda the issue of finalizing the demarcation of our border with Georgia, and we have already reached agreements with our Georgian partners on this,” Pashinyan noted.
