Why has the price of liquefied gas increased? Explanation of the Ministry of Economy

The Ministry of Economy has addressed the situation surrounding the supply of liquefied gas in Armenia.

Regarding the supply of liquefied gas

Question: Is there a shortage of liquefied gas in Armenia?

Answer:

Due to congestion and temporary logistical challenges at the Lars checkpoint, the entry of some trucks transporting liquefied gas into Armenia has been delayed. This has disrupted the usual supply rhythm to the domestic market. While there is no complete shortage, temporary supply interruptions may occur at certain filling stations.

Question: What is the Government doing?

Answer:

Relevant state bodies are in continuous contact with importing companies and partner organizations to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and restore the normal supply flow.

Question: Is there a risk of price increases?

Answer:

Prices may be influenced not only by logistical disruptions but also by fluctuations in the international market driven by regional developments. At the same time, the market is under constant monitoring, and the competent authorities are taking steps to prevent unjustified price increases and potential speculative behavior.

Question: What should citizens do?

Answer:

We urge citizens to refrain from panic buying and to rely only on official sources of information. Efforts to stabilize the situation are ongoing.

It should be noted that in recent days, drivers and residents have reported a sharp increase in liquefied gas prices, reaching up to 300 drams, as well as shortages at some gas stations.”
