Kandaz announces hunger strike
Artur Avanesyan, a member of the “Strong Armenia” party who has been detained for two months, has gone on a hunger strike. The information was confirmed to Aysor.am by Gohar Meloyan, a representative of the party.
According to her, Avanesyan launched the hunger strike as a form of protest.
“It is a protest against an unlawful legal process, as well as the illegalities being committed against Avanesyan and his teammates,” Meloyan said.
Artur Avanesyan, also known as Kandaz, was arrested on April 27. Marina Ohanjanyan, spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Committee, stated that the arrest took place within the framework of criminal proceedings handled by the Committee, related to alleged election bribery.
The Anti-Corruption Committee later released a recording in which Avanesyan’s voice is allegedly heard.
