Ararat Mirzoyan: Issue of EAEU withdrawal cannot be discussed until Armenia expresses such a desire

The issue of Armenia leaving the Eurasian Economic Union cannot be discussed until Armenia has presented such a request and desire, and we have not presented such a desire, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in an interview with Aysor.am, referring to Alexei Overchuk’s statement.

To the question of when Armenia will make a decision, Mirzoyan replied: “When there is a need to discuss the issue. I cannot say any deadline, such an issue is not on our agenda today.”

Responding to the observation that Armenia’s membership in the EAEU could potentially be frozen until the country makes its decision, Mirzoyan said: “That cannot be the case. It is an organization determined and guided by the consensus votes of the Republic of Armenia. How can such a thing happen?”

On May 20, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk stated that Armenia is facing a choice between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union.
