As elections approach, the authorities are again filled with enthusiasm – Abrahamyan
Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the National Assembly’s “I Have Honor” faction, wrote:
“Since the July battles of 2020, and especially following the award ceremony in Sardarapat, the acting authorities and members of the ruling Civil Contract party have continuously praised the armed forces.
There were unprecedented commendations and grandiloquent declarations. At the time, the army was glorious and victorious.
After the defeats and the subsequent discrediting of the army, however, that same army and its servicemen became alien to them, reduced to just another institution, while the taxpayer was proclaimed the new hero.
Now, with elections approaching, the authorities are once again full of enthusiasm: one delivers equipment, another receives it, they repaint military hardware and stage military parades.
I can already envision the statements they will issue tomorrow to justify yet another defeat and another concession.”
