Russia to terminate gas supply agreement with Yerevan if Armenia continues EU accession process – Russian Foreign Ministry
Russia will unilaterally terminate or cancel its agreement on the supply of natural gas, oil products, and rough diamonds with Armenia if Yerevan continues its EU accession process, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has announced.
“On May 27, 2026, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Armenia officially delivered to the Armenian side a letter from Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia. The letter states that if Armenia’s EU accession process continues, the Russian side will unilaterally terminate or cancel the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Armenia ‘On Cooperation in the Supply of Natural Gas, Oil Products, and Rough Diamonds to the Republic of Armenia,’ signed on December 2, 2013,” Zakharova said in a statement.
