Iran opposes US presence in South Caucasus – Baghay

Iran’s position on security in the South Caucasus remains clear, consistent, and unambiguous. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghay told ISNA, referring to the US-backed TRIPP project.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran remains suspicious of US intentions, given Washington’s history of interference and aggression in various regions of the world,” he noted.

Baghay added that the destructive interference of extra-regional powers in the affairs of the Caucasus poses a serious threat to the collective interests of regional states, as well as to peace and stability, bringing “absolutely no benefit” to the peoples of the region.
