Armenia’s food safety body receives notification about Russian restrictions

The RA Food Safety Inspection Body received a notification regarding Russian restrictions on May 28, Aysor.am learned from the body.

“We received a notification that from May 30, temporary restrictions will be imposed on the import of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, and strawberries exported from Armenia. The head of the inspection body has already started negotiations,” Anush Harutyunyan, Head of the body’s Information, Consultation and Public Relations Department, told Aysor.am.

She added that the results of the talks will become clear and will be published within the next week.

Rosselkhoznadzor announced that from May 30 it is temporarily imposing restrictions on the import of a number of agricultural products exported from Armenia, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, and strawberries.

The Russian side justifies the decision by citing frequent phytosanitary violations and the assessment that the Armenian side has not taken sufficient measures to address previously identified problems. According to Rosselkhoznadzor, 181 cases of violations were recorded in 2026 alone.
