Rosselkhoznadzor to restrict imports of seeds, eggplant, potatoes and dried fruits from Armenia starting June 3

Starting June 3, 2026, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) will introduce temporary restrictions on the import of celery, eggplant, potatoes, and dried fruits originating from and shipped from Armenia. The measure also applies to the transit of these products to Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, citing the absence of mechanisms to confirm the entry of quarantine goods into destination countries.

The restrictions will remain in place until an appropriate verification system is developed to ensure the safety and traceability of the transported products.

“The situation once again confirms that the Ministry of Economy of Armenia has structural problems and is unable to fully fulfill its mandate to control agricultural producers.

Following structural reforms implemented in 2019, Armenia’s Ministry of Agriculture was dissolved and its responsibilities were transferred to the Ministry of Economy. The ministry is currently responsible for agricultural policy, processing, livestock farming, veterinary services, crop production, pesticide and agrochemical regulation, organic agriculture, agricultural cooperatives, and fisheries,” the news release reads.
