Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO not discussed at the Council of Defense Ministers meeting: CSTO Secretary General

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), responding to a question from TASS regarding Armenia’s status, said it is difficult to simultaneously be a member of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.

“The preferential conditions created in the Eurasian Economic Union cannot be extended to the member states of the European Union,” he said.

He further stated that the issue of Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO was not raised during the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the organization’s member states, adding that the matter is political in nature.
