Referring to recent arrests of opposition figures and searches in apartments of employees of the “Our Way” NGO, political scientist Beniamin Matevosyan told Aysor.am that the authorities are increasingly relying on administrative resources ahead of elections.

He said the authorities are trying to make the most of administrative resources, which they formally rejected in 2018, but today they have become the bearers and implementers of the same methods.

According to him, the current authorities are attempting to strike at both the “Strong Armenia” bloc and the “Armenia” bloc a few days before the elections, and similar actions may also target the Prosperous Armenia Party offices.

“The authorities are trying to eliminate the most important players from the game, which is very logical. Considering the signals coming from these structures, they are not only ready for all this, but also conditionally, if you remove one person from the game, there are other people to replace him. The work has not stopped in any headquarters, at least for now,” he said.

According to Matevosyan, the authorities are acting very logically from their own point of view.

“After all, we must be honest that the authorities know the real sentiments better than anyone else. They have a problem in terms of maintaining their political monopoly and will try to resort to different methods.
