Civil Contract’s declaration of victory after counting 10% of the votes was untimely and risky – PACE Observer

Janez Lenarčič, a representative of the PACE observation mission, described the declaration of victory based on the counting of only 10% of the votes as untimely and somewhat risky.

Responding to a question from Aysor.am on whether he had encountered a similar case in his practice where a political force declared victory after only 10% of the votes had been counted, as the Civil Contract party did, Lenarčič said:

“It was untimely and risky, because with the remaining 90% of the votes, there was, of course, a very high risk that the result could have been significantly different.”

He emphasized that such statements should be made only when there is sufficient data regarding the final election results.

Another PACE observer, Nathalie Loiseau, also stated that such behavior is not commendable.
