This election was a national protest against humiliation, defeat, coercion, and the ongoing erosion of Armenian statehood. Pashinyan did not gain the trust of the Armenian people, former Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian wrote on his Facebook page.

“The international interpretation of Armenia’s recent parliamentary elections has been dangerously superficial. Much of the foreign coverage has presented the vote as a simple geopolitical competition between a pro-Western government and an allegedly pro-Russian opposition. This narrative may be convenient for a foreign audience, but it is deeply misleading. It reduces a profound national crisis to a diplomatic slogan and, in doing so, obscures the real meaning of what has taken place.”
